Have you ever had a can of Coke and thought that it would taste better if it was open source? No? Well, some people have and they have created the world's first "open source" cola. And it's on version 1.1.3

Anybody can make the drink, modify and improve on it as they see fit, as long as the recipe is made public under the GNU General Public License. However, recipes are not copyrightable, so the legal basis for that premise is untested.

Originally released as a promotional tool to explain open source software, the drink became a success and the company that made it sold 150,000 cans, and the creators became better known for the cola than for the software they were trying to promote!

The 18-year-old Esha Khare Indian American girl developed this super-fast charging device and won $50,000 from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair this week.

Indian origin California teen to devise a solution to keep her phone up and running always. She created a revolutionary charger that can charge up your phone in 20 seconds.

Dubbed supercapacitor, the 18-year-old Esha Khare developed this super-fast charging device and won $50,000 from the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair this week.

Now you no more have to wait for your device to charge fully. This new gadget “packs more energy into a smaller space than traditional phone batteries and holds the charge for longer,” Daily Mail reported.

Khare has so far just used the gizmo to power a light-emitting diode or LED – but she is hopeful that her invention will be used in powering not only smartphone but even cars or any gadget that requires charging.

In an exclusive with NBC News, Esha said, “My cellphone battery always dies,” and this is what inspired her to come out with this technology. Her specialisation in nanochemistry helped her considerably reduce the size of her invention. “Really working at the nanoscale to make significant advances in many different fields,” she said. It can even be reportedly used in flexible displays and clothing and fabric.”

Coming back to the supercapacitor, it is flexible, small in size and is capable of handling 10,000 recharge cycles, more than normal batteries by a factor of 10.

The development of modern smartphones is similar to the development of computers, only sizes are different. It means that smartphones have processors, RAM, memory drive and, surely, graphic accelerator. Graphic accelerator is a chip which provides realistic and colorful graphics for 3D games.

Most of the smartphones at the market have one of the three types of graphic accelerators. These are Mali, Adreno, PowerVR SGX and GeForce Ultra-Low Power (ULP).

British company ARM is involved into the development of Mali graphic architecture. These chips are components of different systems on chip (SoC). Mali is used in the products by Samsung, Gigabyte, Rockchip, and others. For example, Mali-400 MP is a component of SoC Samsung Exynos 421x, which is used in Samsung Galaxy S II and S III.

PowerVR is a development of the Imagination Technologies company, which earlier developed graphic accelerators for desktops. PowerVR chips are used by Samsung, Apple, Motorola and others. Thus, different PowerVR chips generations are installed in all Apple iPhones.

Speakinh about the Adreno, I can say that at the moment Adreno department of mobile graphics is owned by Qualcomm. They bought the technology from AMD. And I think it’s be enough to say that today Qualcomm is the leading supplier of hardware for most mobile developers.

GeForce ULP is a mobile version of desktop graphic accelerator NVIDIA, which is a component of Tegra SoC of in all generations. The main advantage of Tegra before its competitors is a specialized content which is intended only for devices based on this SoC. This is due to the close cooperation of NVIDIA with game developers who optimize their games for GeForce graphics. All games optimized for Tegra can be found in a special app store Tegra Zone.

Techivian has done its own testing of the most popular video chips and has got the following results:

In other words, if you need a smartphone that will be able to work with “heavy” 3D games a year after its release, then you need to buy a device with top graphic accelerator. These are Mali 400, Adreno 225 and Adreno 320. For casual 2D games a smartphone with graphic accelerator of medium class, such as Adreno 200 and 205, PowerVR SGX543, and Mali 300. They will provide graphics on the PSP level.

But very soon we may expect that mobile chips will provide the graphics of best gaming devices. For example, chip Mali-T658, which is to be released this year, will improve efficiency up to 10 times if compared to Mali-400.

Recruiting firm CyberCoders has released new data about the skills most in demand for the highest paying technology jobs this year. The company analysed over 10,000 tech companies and their hiring requirements to compile the list of the hottest skills in the tech space.

Data from CyberCoders reveals that candidates who have experience with iOS development,cloud computing programming and front-end development skills are most in demand in today's tech career landscape.

The top 10 tech skills for 2013, as per CyberCoders are listed below:
Mobile development (iOS, Android)

  1. Cloud computing (AWS, Azure)

  2. Front end development (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript)

  3. UX/UI design

  4. Big Data (Hadoop, MongoDB, NoSQL)

  6. Ruby on rails
